Fresh Air: The Doors

Ray Manzarek is one of the best storytellers I've heard on Terry's program. Even if you aren't a fan of The Doors, it's still a fascinating story about the band. I think the show airs again in the evening, and you might be able to get a podcast.

The Manzarek interview is from 1998. Too bad she hasn't talked to him more recently, so she could ask about the legal action prohibiting him from touring as a Doors revival act.

  • what a freak. i remember that interview; i kept thinking this guy would be the most annoying dad. you'd bring friends over and every conversation would be an excuse for him to relive the glory days and play a little tune. mr. rogers was another surprise freak, except instead of tinklin' the keys while he waxed nostalgic, mr. rogers did puppet voices (so creepy). i will admit though, they both made compelling subjects for an interview in that voyeuristic, aren't celebrities weird kinda way.
